The primary mission of the Young Central Appraisal District is to provide the best possible customer service through teamwork, a positive attitude, a well educated and informative staff and through an accountable system which uses technology, positive communication and a helpful manner in order to ensure the taxing jurisdictions, property owners and the public a smooth transition and experience.

The Young Central Appraisal District appraises property for ad valorem taxation of these taxing authorities.

Young County Appraisal District Collects For All Of The Above

The duties of the appraisal district include:

  • The determination of market value of taxable property
  • The administration of exemptions and special valuations authorized by the local entities and the State of Texas

Tax rates and ultimately the amount of taxes levied on property are determined by governing bodies of each of the taxing authorities. Mineral, utility and industrial accounts are appraised for the district by Pritchard & Abbot, Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas. Real estate and personal property accounts are appraised locally by the district. 

Note:  It is the taxpayer's responsibility to ensure all accounts are accounted for when paying property taxes.  The Young Central Appraisal District is not liable for any accounts that may not be accounted for at the time of payment, missed due to differences in owner names, mailing, and/or physical address discrepancies, etc.   



Non-english speaking persons are encouraged to provide a personal interpreter. If a person cannot provide an interpreter, the District will attempt to arrange for interpreting assistance provided a written request is submitted to the Chief Appraiser at least three (3) business days in advance of the meeting.

Access by Disabled Persons

District Facilities allow access by disabled indi­viduals. Handicapped parking space is available at the front parking lot of the District office. Indi­viduals who need additional assistance for entry or access should notify the District at least three (3) business days in advance of the meeting.
